Artists Exhibition #2

I visited the Sheppard Contemporary Exhibition titled "Possession". All of the artists addressed themes regarding contemporary culture, fantasy and morality. Many artists included allusions to many historical art movements and many different cultures. All the pieces either address issues or even prompt questions about value and identity.

Erik Parker's Analog Babylon was probably my favorite piece in the gallery. This graphic, colorful acrylic painting represented peoples need to escape and travel. Henri Rousseau was a big inspiration for Parker, mainly because of Rousseau's early 20th century escapism paintings. This piece also suggest certain strategies of social and cultural connection that viewers experience in day-today life. I really admired his contrast of colors. The outer edges were pale and darker colors while the center revealed a bright neon sensation. Overall, I enjoyed his psychedelic, cartoon art.

Assume Vivid Astro Focus by Eli Sudbrack and Christophe Hamaide-Pierson. This piece mends modern day concepts of technology and knowledge. This represents the idea that technological knowledge is leading to more advanced dreams and goals. The only thing that bothered me about these digital prints was that it was an abstract drawing of a transvestite. So I am not use to seeing women breast and male genitals on the same body, it kinda gave off a weird vibe. I really could not relate to this piece as much as the other ones. But I do appreciate the collaboratives work.

This exhibition visit was okay. I just wish I could have related to some of the artists work more. As I continue attending more lectures and exhibitions my ideas about art change and im constantly learning to view concepts through different perceptions.

Project #7

For this project I chose to focus on the stereotypes of Republicans. Although I agree with liberals the most, I still concur with some of the Republican standpoints on certain issues. So I decided to recreate the GOP website. I threw in as many of stereotypes I could find. I tried not to change around any pictures so that the website could look identical.
